Recalls

Product Recalls

Some products are determined to be hazardous after being released into the marketplace. If you've registered a product with its manufacturer or one of its dealers, you should be notified (normally via U.S. Mail) if the product is determined to qualify for corrective repair or is recalled. Unfortunately, many homeowners fail to register their purchases and, therefore, are not informed about product-related risks in their home. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the government agency charged with reviewing product-related concerns to determine when a public warning or recall should be issued:

CPSC is very effective at getting dangerous products off store shelves, such as recalled toys, clothing, children's jewelry, tools, appliances, electronics and electrical products. But once a product gets into the home, the consumer has to be on the lookout. Consumers need to be aware of the latest safety recalls to keep dangerous recalled products away from family members.

Often, but not always, will hear about affected products in the news. If you have purchased appliances this year that you have not registered or are experiencing trouble with a product, take a moment to review the list of recalls at one of the sites below. You can sign up to receive notifications via email.
